Area of personal and social autonomy
This area is closely connected with all the others areas which make up the curriculum, as they all directly influence in acquiring autonomy. The abilities which are proposed in it, such as dressing and undressing, personal hygiene, eating, simple household tasks, involve a great step towards independence and one's own self-esteem. With a determined type of pupil, the aspects relating to one's own feelings, self-control, respect, participation and collaboration are worked at with greater emphasis.
Coordination with the family, through the teaching tutor and other professionals at the Centre, is essential to give sense and functionality to the training worked at in the school.

A large part of the work of this area is carried out in the Workshop for Domestic abilities. It occupies a large space in which three usual situations at the home have been reproduced as closely as possible: the kitchen, the sitting-room-cum-dining-room, and the bedroom. The general objective aims to develop the learning of abilities in personal autonomy in the domestic situation through proposals that bring out their functional and contextual aspects.
